FOUNDER, SPEAC SUCCESS
I'm one of those weirdos who genuinely loves public speaking. Not tolerates it, not gets through it, loves it. I'm also a communication nerd through and through. Get me talking about communication theory, and you'll have a hard time getting me to stop. I've built my entire career around one idea: authentic communication isn't just nice to have, it's your edge. Especially now, in a world where AI can write your emails and polish your pitch, the thing that still can't be replicated is YOU, your stories, your passion, your perspective. I didn't always believe that, though. I spent years in highly regulated corporate environments, learning exactly how to speak, dress and carry myself to fit in. So when I left to become an entrepreneur, I brought all of that with me. I had the polish. I had the delivery down. And people would tell me things like "you're such a great speaker" or "I hope I can speak like you someday." What they weren't saying was "let's work together." I wasn't landing clients because I wasn't making the connections I needed to actually build a business. So I stopped. I said f*** it, and I started showing up as my weird and awkward self. I dressed like me and talked like me. I let my natural gestures, life stories and unique perspective come through instead of the version I'd been trained to perform. And everything changed. People didn't just compliment me anymore, they hired me and referred me. They connected with me, because for the first time I was actually reachable as a person instead of a polished speaker. That's the moment SPEAC Success was truly born, and it's the whole reason I'm obsessed with helping other people communicate authentically. On the credentials side: I hold a master's degree in interpersonal communication, I've taught communication courses at Columbia University and Iona University, and I'm a professional speaker and TEDx speaker. I'm also the founder of Drop The Mic Night, an event that gives aspiring speakers a stage to share their story while raising money for local nonprofits. And I'm the author of Water Yourself: A Practical Guide to Weed Out the Bad, Get More Good & Live Your Dreams, which has found its way to readers in ten countries. When I'm not speaking or coaching, you'll find me hiking, making jewelry, reading or soaking up the sun at the beach with my husband Matt and our French Bulldog, Rover (who, I'll admit, is truly the star at SPEAC Success).
Seda Rua
CONNECTION COORDINATOR
I'm the person behind the camera and the screen at SPEAC Success, handling the content, video and marketing side of things so Shannon can focus on what she does best. I've been editing video since I was a teenager, long before I had any idea it would turn into a career. Somewhere along the way that hobby turned into a full blown obsession with storytelling, and eventually into three degrees from Quinnipiac University in film, cinematic production and marketing. I've spent over a decade behind the editing timeline and the last few years learning the marketing side too, so I understand both how to make something look good and how to make sure the right people actually see it. Before SPEAC, I worked on projects ranging from viral social content that hit millions of views to grassroots campaigns that raised real money for causes that mattered. I've directed commercials, built marketing plans from scratch and helped brands figure out how to sound like themselves online, which, funny enough, is basically the same thing Shannon helps people do in their professional roles, on stage and even in their personal lives. At SPEAC, I bring that same eye to everything we put out into the world, whether that's a video clip from a keynote, a social post or the strategy behind how we show up online. I care about making sure the work looks as good as it actually is.
Rover Barack Daniels
CHIEF HAPPINESS OFFICER

My official title is Chief Happiness Officer, and I take it very seriously, even if my actual job mostly looks like napping in the corner until someone needs me. My core skills are reducing stress and sparking smiles, and honestly I'm pretty good at both. I've sat through more rehearsals than I can count, and I've loved every speech I've ever heard.
My whole philosophy is simple: it's hard to feel anxious when a cute pup like me is smiling up at you, giving you love and encouragement. So if you think having me in the room would help your session, just ask. I'll check my nap schedule.
