What If You Trusted Your Voice? How to Overcome Public Speaking Fear.

There’s something powerful that happens when someone chooses to use their authentic voice. Not the overly rehearsed version or the one shaped by what they think others want to hear. It’s the exact voice that was needed in that exact moment to create connection, build trust, and strengthen confidence from within.
Confidence in speaking doesn’t just appear overnight. It starts forming much earlier than we think. In fact, studies show that up to 74% of people experience some level of fear when it comes to public speaking.* That fear often begins at a young age, when students start holding back in classrooms, second-guessing their ideas, or worrying about being judged.
Without opportunities to practice using their voice, that hesitation doesn’t just go away. It grows.
That’s why creating spaces where people can speak authentically, especially early on, is so important.
We saw this firsthand at our Drop the Mic Night Events (Link to Site) last year when we partnered with Future 5 & LiveGirl .One of the most impactful parts of the night was having high school students take the stage alongside more seasoned, experienced speakers. These young women and men shared their stories with honesty and courage, not because they had perfected every word, but because they showed up as themselves.
And you could feel it.
It was a reminder that confidence isn’t something you wait for. It’s something you build by using your voice, even before you feel fully ready.
When someone learns early on that their voice matters, it changes how they show up everywhere else. They stop chasing perfection and start focusing on connection. They begin to trust themselves, speak more freely, and carry that confidence into every room they walk into.
And if you didn’t have those opportunities growing up, it doesn’t mean you missed your chance. It is never too late to develop these skills. Learning how to communicate authentically, share your story, and speak with confidence is something you can start at any point, and the impact is immediate.
And if the idea of stepping onto a stage has been on your mind, we have something exciting coming back.... Drop the Mic Night officially returns this June!
